Charges filed in Boone County chase

Charges were filed Wednesday against a Kansas City man, who’s accused of leading state troopers on a high-speed chase.

On Dec. 12, troopers parked on Zumwalt Road at Highway 63 reportedly clocked a passing car heading south at 101 mph in a 70 mph zone.

They tried to stop the car, but the driver fled, exceeding to more than 120 mph.

In the midst of the chase, the suspect allegedly almost hit at least two other vehicles before running over spike strips at Rolling Hills Road.

The spike strips failed to stop the driver though, who eventually exited 63 at Broadway before getting stopped in stationary traffic.

The driver, 21 year old Jimmy Duong reportedly told troopers he fled because he didn’t want a ticket.

He was arrested and is now charged with felony resisting arrest by fleeing, causing substantial risk of injury.

He is expected in Boone County Court Thursday afternoon.
