Former Sears employee charged with stealing money and gift cards from store
A former Sears employee has been charged with stealing after she was accused of stealing money and multiple gift cards from Sears.
According to the probable cause statement, Eden Tracy was working at Sears when she stole $466.31 from a green money bag in her cash drawer.
On Dec. 6, Columbia police said Tracy activated 14 gift cards and placed them in her pocket without paying for them. The gift cards totaled out to $784.75.
A day later, Tracy activated another seven gift cards, which totaled $741.65.
According to the probable cause statement, the total amount of cash and gift cards stolen was $1,992.71.
Tracy admitted to police that one of the gift cards located in her wallet was one of the ones she took from Sears.
Police said Tracy is not from Columbia and admitted that she ran away from where she was living.
