Columbia woman pleads guilty to second-degree assault after being accused of kidnapping

A Columbia woman pleaded guilty to assault in the second degree on Monday after she was accused of kidnapping and assaulting another woman in February.

ABC17 had previously reported that Mikayla Collins and Brianna Cavins had picked up the victim from work in Jefferson City and took her to a remote area in Callaway County before Cavins assaulted her.

According to court documents, Collins contacted the victim through Facebook under false pretense and offered to pick her up and take her to a mutual acquaintance.

The victim reported that Cavins and Collins held her against her will, assaulted her extensively, and then left her along the county roadway. The victim further reported that when the suspects left, they stole items from her.

Judge Kevin Crane placed Collins on five years of supervised probation under several conditions, including that she pay restitution for the victim’s medical bills.
