Missouri House of Representatives committee set to meet Wednesday about redistricting

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri House of Representatives Special Committee on Redistricting is scheduled to meet Wednesday.

Committee members are set to meet at noon at the Missouri State Capitol to talk about congressional redistricting. Time is ticking as state lawmakers have until May 13 to get a bill to Gov. Mike Parson.

ABC 17 News is told an amendment is expected to be introduced with a new version of the map, which state lawmakers plan to vote out of the committee.

State Rep. Dan Shaul told ABC 17 News on Tuesday afternoon he didn't know what the new proposed map looked like.

Wednesday afternoon's hearing comes as Missouri faces lawsuits in both state and federal courts over the inability to get a map passed.

Missouri is the only state that hasn't finalized a new map, though some other states are still in limbo due to lawsuits and vetoes.

A hearing for the federal lawsuit against Missouri is set for Monday. The lawsuit in state courts is scheduled to be heard on May 23.
