Man arrested on suspicion of damaging property in Downtown Columbia

A Columbia man was arrested Thursday after witnesses saw him damaging property in downtown Columbia, according to police.

Columbia Police arrested Irvyng Dawayne Horton Thursday afternoon on suspicion of first degree felony and property damage.

On Wednesday morning, officers responded to a vandalism report in the 1000 block of East Broadway after witnesses observed Horton using trash cans on the sidewalk to damage two vehicles.

When officers arrived they found the damage on the cars. A gold Toyota had a smashed windshield, dented passenger side and scratches all over the vehicle. A gray Honda SUV had scratches to the driver side.

Right now, it’s unclear what caused Horton to allegedly do this.
