Former employee charged with stealing more than $100,000 from real estate company

A former Re-Max employee has been charged with stealing more than $100,000 from the company.

According to the probable cause statement, the owners of Re-Max found Elizabeth Sweesy stealing from them by using a business credit card.

Police said Sweesy had been taking the money from 2012 to 2016.

Sweesy and her attorney sent officers a statement saying she knew she wasn’t allowed to use the company credit card for personal gains, but did so without the knowledge of the owners.

Police said Sweesy used approximately $30,000 to $20,000 per year until it was discovered. She purchased personal items, food, building materials, vacations and work, which were not authorized by Re-Max.

Officers said the grand total of money stolen was $119,837.84.

Sweesy is charged with over two dozen felony charges in the case.
