Columbia police arrest woman accused of threatening a man with a box cutter

UPDATE 12/5: Hazley has been charged with domestic assault, armed criminal action and property damage.

ORIGINAL: Columbia police arrested Shanice Hazley on Sunday night after officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Garth Avenue in reference to a weapons incident.

Police said Hazley went to a residence in the area to confront a man. Hazley used her car to block in the victim and a 9-month-old child who was in the back seat of Hazley’s car, officers said.

Hazley sprayed the victim with mace and swung at him with the box cutter, police said.

The victim told police that Hazley damaged his vehicle by scratching it with a box cutter.

Police said they noticed mace on the victim’s jacket, a cut on his sleeve and a scratch on the trunk of his car.

Hazley faces possible charges of armed criminal action, domestic assault, property damage and endangering the welfare of a child.
