Ryan Ferguson’s national talk show appearance rescheduled
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man freed from prison after being convicted of murdering a newspaper sports editor will appear Tuesday on the "Tamron Hall" talk show this week after the interview was rescheduled.
Ryan Ferguson was originally set to be on the show last Tuesday but the appearance was abruptly rescheduled without explanation.
Ferguson will appear with his father, Bill Ferguson, on the talk show that airs at 11 a.m. on ABC 17.
A judge in 2013 vacated Ferguson's conviction in the 2001 murder of Columbia Daily Tribune sports editor Kent Heitholt. Ferguson was convicted in part on the testimony of his friend, Charles Erickson, who confessed to the murder. Erickson later said he was coerced and has sought his own release from prison.
The appeals court ruled that prosecutors withheld evidence that could have helped Ferguson during his trial. He reached a $10 million settlement in 2017 with several Columbia Police Department detectives tied to his case.
Ferguson was recently a contestant on "The Amazing Race."
