Department of Homeland Security grants Missouri Real ID extension

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has granted Missouri an extension through Oct. 18 to implement the requirements of the Real ID Act and its regulations.

Federal agencies may accept Missouri-issued drive licenses and identification cards for official purposes, including air travel, during the extension.

“I am pleased DHS has recognized the state’s efforts on this issue,” said Joel Walters, director of the Missouri Department of Revenue. “With this extension, Missourians will not be inconvenienced while we continue our work to improve state-issued identifications.”

Missouri State Senator Caleb Rowden posted on social media that the extension is great news.

Representative Vicky Hartzler posted on social media, “Glad I was able to support this extension, along with the rest of MO House delegation, in letter to DHS this summer.”
