Gas leak in Cole County: 8 houses evacuated

A residential service gas line just southwest of Jefferson City was hit early this afternoon, and is still leaking gas.

Cole County Sheriff Deputies say the drilling company, COMO Connect, was drilling underground for utility lines when they hit the gas line.

Eight houses in the immediate area were evacuated.

Electric services company, Ameren, and Cole County Fire and Sheriff Deputies are now at the scene.
