UPDATE: Police confirm two missing Jefferson City teens home safe

UPDATE 11/27: JCPD has released an official press release on the two teens that returned after going missing since Nov. 14. You can read the entire release below:

Two Jefferson City teens who were reported missing on November 14th have both returned home over the weekend. Zachary Johnson, age 15, and Lilly Gore, age 17, arrived back to Jefferson City to their families around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, November 26th. The teens left the Jefferson City area just under two weeks ago, and left for an unknown destination.

When the teens returned to their home, it was discovered they went to various states while they were away, but came back on their own.

Our agency wants to thank those who assisted with the search for the teens, to include those participating media outlets that were very helpful with the distribution of information regarding the teens, as well as many users of social media who spread the word locally and across the country.

ORIGINAL: Two Jefferson City teenagers that were reported missing almost two weeks ago are home safe, according to a Facebook post from one of the teenager’s parents.

Zachary Johnson, 15, and Lilly Gore, 17, were both reported missing by family members. Police had been investigating their disappearance since Nov. 14.

Jefferson City police have confirmed the teenagers are home.

Officers said the teenagers are students at Jefferson City High School.

Family members said on Nov. 20 that a note from Gore indicated the teenagers could’ve been heading toward St. Louis.

Police said they could not yet release how the teenagers returned home. The incident is still under investigation, police said.

The Facebook post from Johnson’s parent’s did not mention how the two came home.
