Crash on Missouri River Bridge sends one to hospital

A 48-year-old Jefferson City woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries Saturday night after crashing her car on the Missouri River Bridge.

Jefferson City police said the driver was merging onto Highway 54 west when she lost control of the car, drove off the right side of road and hit the guardrail. Police said the car then crossed three lanes of traffic and ran off the left side of the road before hitting a concrete barrier.

Officers said the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Two lanes of the highway were shut down for about 40 minutes while police investigated and cleared the crash.
