Woman charged with murder in Columbia motel death files to correct sentence

A woman that was charged with murder filed on Wednesday to correct her sentence.

Jaclyn Rose was sentenced to 20 years for charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Rose pleaded guilty in May after a man was found dead in a central Columbia motel last fall.

According to the motion, Rose said she had ineffective assistance of counsel because she did not get to explain her case. Rose said the her public defender had too many cases to give her case the attention that it needed.

Rose also claims she was not properly evaluated or medicated at the time of the plea. She said that the Boone County Jail did not have her on the right medication or dosage for her diagnosis. Rose claims that she was never evaluated to see if she was competent to stand trial.
