Lake Ozark Police Department gets awarded additional officer position

The Lake Ozark Police Department was awarded a grant to add one additional officer position.

The amount awarded will be $108,733 from federal funds with a city responsibility of $36,244. The funds will cover the costs of salary and benefits for one officer over a three-year period.

Officers said the city is required to maintain that position for at least one year after the expiration of the three-year grant period.

Police said the department submitted the application in early July.

179 departments across the country were awarded funds for a total of 802 new officer positions for a total of $98,495,397.

In the state of Missouri, 27 departments applied with only three receiving awarded funding: Kansas City, St. Louis Metropolitan and Lake Ozark.

This additional officer will increase the Lake Ozark police from 12 to 13 full-time officers.
