Tracking rain and a few storms moving in Thursday

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds and warmer with lows in the mid-50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with showers and a few storms moving in by mid-morning. Rain becoming more scattered by afternoon. Highs in the lower 60s.

EXTENDED: It's been a perfect day despite winds picking up as we've returned to the lower 70s this afternoon. Clouds start to filter in tonight as a warm front settles across the region, keeping temperatures in the low 50s overnight. We'll start off cloudy early in the morning with rain and a few storms working in from the west by mid-morning. Showers and storms continue off and on through the afternoon, with a break expected by evening. We'll remain in the mid-50s for Friday morning. Off and on showers and storms are possible early on Friday through midday, but we could see enough of a break for the atmosphere to recharge a bit during the afternoon and evening. We'll be closely monitoring a cold front across eastern Kansas on Friday will trigger some strong storms west of us during the day, moving in our direction by Friday night into Saturday. Ingredients are starting to look more favorable for a few strong storms in Mid-Missouri during this time frame, with a slight or level 2 risk for severe weather across western Missouri currently. If parameters start to look more certain into tomorrow, a Weather Alert Day could be issued for the possibility of some strong to severe storms in Mid-Missouri by Friday evening. The front is expected to clear out of our area between Saturday afternoon and evening, leaving us with a dry Saturday night and Sunday with temperatures in the lower 70s Sunday afternoon. Rain returns with low pressure to our south late Sunday night into Monday, with showers potentially continuing into Tuesday. Rain amounts between Thursday and next week will be in the 1-3" total range.
