Tracking a gorgeous afternoon, warmer Wednesday
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cool with light winds shifting back south. Lows in the lower 40s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the lower 70s.
EXTENDED: After a chilly start to the day, high pressure is making for a beautiful afternoon as light winds continue thanks to sinking air aloft. We'll continue to have clear skies overnight, but as that high moves southeast, we'll see a wind shift tonight, keeping temperatures in the lower 40s. Winds pick up slightly from the south on Wednesday, pushing temperatures into the lower 70s. Clouds make a return Wednesday night as a warm front lifts across the region, and the boundary settles right across Mid-Missouri by Thursday morning. A few disturbances moving along the stalled front will bring rounds of rain starting early Thursday through Friday. Temperatures will fall a bit on Thursday with widespread rain around, with highs in the mid-60s. We'll be in the warmer sector of the storm system on Friday into Friday night ahead of the cold front, renewing our chances of showers and storms. The highest threat for severe weather will be across far western Missouri into eastern Kansas on Friday, but there could be a few storms Friday night into Saturday morning as the cold front works east. Rain and storms look to taper off from west to east during the day Saturday, and temperatures still manage to reach the lower 70s. Sunday looks like the drier day of the weekend with partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs near 70. Rain could return as early as Sunday night and continue into Monday. Rain amounts through the weekend will be in the 1-1.5" range.
