Greitens case to be heard Tuesday in Boone County court

On Tuesday, a judge will decide whether the phone records requested by former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens are relevant to the case between him and his ex-wife.

A hearing in the case against Eric will take place Tuesday in Boone County Court. Eric's ex-wife, Sheena Chestnut Greitens, filed to move the couple's family case to Travis County, Texas. In court documents, Sheena alleges Eric physically abused her and their kids -- which could be legal cause to move the case to Texas.

Eric fired back at Sheena, claiming she is working with his political opponents to ruin his campaign for U.S. Senate.

Eric's campaign has been repeatedly attacked by other Missouri politicians, including his opponents in the Republican primary election. Election frontrunner Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (R-Harrisonville) has attacked Eric repeatedly, saying "real men don't abuse women."

In an effort to prove his ex-wife is working against his campaign, Eric subpoenaed phone records from Feb. 1 to March 30 from several different phone numbers. Two of those numbers belong to Eric's former aide Austin Chambers and Sheena's sister Catherine Linkul.

Chambers and Linkul have both filed motions to quash, or cancel, the subpoenas. The two argue they are not relevant to the family's case. In his motion, Chambers says he is owed money for the legal fees and that Eric is choosing to "use the matter and this court as a prop for personal gain in his floundering campaign for United States Senate." The motions will be heard in court Tuesday.

Eric's attorney, Gary Stamper, said in a statement the case is in the hands of the judge.

"The only audience that matters now is the judge who approved the parties’ agreement and has the power to change it," Stamper said.
