Cooler Friday, but warmer for the weekend

TODAY: Mostly cloudy skies will be persistent into the afternoon helping it feel cooler today as high temperatures reach the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. Northeast to easterly winds between 11-14 mph are expected heading into the evening. A warm front will lift to the north Friday night, bringing a chance of spotty showers.

TONIGHT: As low lying clouds return we could see spotty showers through the overnight hours, likely just limited to light drizzle. Overnight lows will be back into the low 50s with a wind shifting out of the southeast up to 10 mph.

EXTENDED: The weekend will be mild and a good chance to enjoy the outdoors. A few showers are possible Saturday morning mainly north of I-70 but we’ll have a dry, mild afternoon with high temperatures near 70 under mostly cloudy skies. We could see just a few pockets of sunshine. Saturday night will stay mild with lows only dropping into the lower 60s and upper 50s. Sunday will be the warmest day of the weekend as southerly winds increase to 14 mph and gusts up to 23 mph, bringing temperatures up into the mid to upper 70s before another cold front moves in. The next front will bring a chance of thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening. At this time, the best chance is along and south of I-70. We’ll have to watch for a few stronger storms as there is a marginal severe threat for areas mainly along and east of HWY 63. This could bring isolated severe storms with high winds. Cooler air moves in behind the front dropping us to near 50s for Monday with a chance of light rain. The best chance of rain Monday is south of I-70. The cooler weather lingers into mid-week as high temperatures only reach the upper 40s Tuesday and Wednesday.
