Camden County deputies arrest man after high speed chase
Camden County deputies arrested Joseph Blecher on Wednesday after deputies matched Blecher’s vehicle with the same description of a stolen truck.
According to the probable cause statement, deputies were heading west on East U.S. Highway 54 when they observed a blue Ford Ranger matching the description of a stolen truck.
Deputies said when they attempted to pull over Blecher, he failed to yield and a chase began.
The chase went onto North State Highway 5, where deputies said Blecher began to travel at a high rate of speed, exceeding speeds of 100 mph.
Deputies said during the chase, Blecher was driving on the wrong side of the road on multiple occasions.
Laurie police helped in the chase by setting down spike strips south of their city limits.
Deputies said Blecher hit the spike strips causing both of his side tires to go flat.
Deputies said Blecher continued on North State Highway 5 but his tires began shred and come off the wheel.
Spike strips were deployed again causing Blecher’s driver’s side tires to go flat, deputies said.
According to the probable cause statement, Blecher began to lose control and his car started to swerve.
Deputies said as Blecher was attempting to go up a hill, the car lost power and stopped in the wrong lane of traffic.
Blecher was arrested and deputies were notified he had two no bond warrants from Camden County and his driving status was revoked.
Deputies searched his car and found a glass pipe with a burnt residue and a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle.
Blecher has been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, driving with a revoked license, exceeding the posted speed limit, failing to drive on the right side of the roadway and driving in a careless and imprudent manner.
