Police investigating threat to Sedalia high school

The Sedalia Police Department is investigating a threat made on social media against Smith-Cotton High School.

“We are working with local law enforcement professionals, who are conducting an investigation,” the Sedalia School District 200 wrote on its Facebook page Wednesday evening. “At this point, nothing has been found to validate the content of the threatening post.”

The district said the Police Department and Pettis County Sheriff’s Office were prepared to assist at the schools Thursday morning.

District officials are encouraging families to go about their normal routines Thursday morning.

Anyone with information on the social media threat is asked to call the Sedalia Police Department at 660-827-7823.
