Two men arrested after Columbia police find more than 30 grams of methamphetamine

Columbia police arrested Scott Ostrander and Mark Smith on Sunday after officers conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle for an expired registration on Stadium Boulevard near Bernadette Drive.

Police said when they approached the vehicle they could smell marijuana.

Ostrander, the driver, gave officers permission to search the vehicle, police said.

Police said they found a hidden compartment in the driver’s door armrest, a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine and a loose amount of methamphetamine.

Officers said they also found several pieces of loose marijuana in the center console.

Police said they found another hidden compartment with approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine and more than a gram of heroin.

Officers said in the backseat of the car they found a stolen Samsung Tablet.

Ostrander was arrested and faces possible charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Smith, the passenger, was arrested and faces possible charges of possession of a controlled substance and a felony warrant for failing to appear on a drug charge.
