New helicopter search and rescue team completes first flight training
The Missouri Task Force 1 and the Missouri National Guard completed four days of training Friday for its newly formed helicopter search and rescue team.
The team wrapped up with its first flight training at the Boone County Fire Protection District and Missouri Task Force 1 training center.
Members simulated rescuing people from their cars in floodwaters and from on top of buildings.
Members from the Texas Task Force 1 helped teach and critique the flight training Friday.
Missouri’s Helicopter Search and Rescue Team is one of five of its kind in the country. Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina and Pennsylvania also have similar programs.
