Search for missing Benton County man ends; deputies find remains
The Benton County Sheriff’s Department said they have found the remains of Duane Georges after multiple searches around Georges property.
According to the deputies, they were contacted on Sept. 24 by concerned neighbors of Georges, who they had not seen for a couple of weeks.
Deputies said they responded to Georges residence and did not make contact with the man.
Deputies said when they searched the property, they found Geroges’ wheelchair in a wooded area near the residence.
Georges had a missing leg and did not get around very well, deputies said.
Deputies said they discontinued the search and began looking at cell phone records and other electronic means, but nothing was discovered.
Deputies returned back to the residence with a search a rescue dog from Osage Beach.
On Oct. 4, deputies said the K-9 unit helped discover the remains of Georges over an eighth of a mile, from his wheelchair in a gully running through the steep hillside of an adjacent property.
Deputies said they do no suspect any foul play, but the medical examiner is still investigating Georges’ death.
