Jefferson City woman charged with stealing, accused of stealing more than 100 items from Walmart

A Cole County woman was charged with stealing $750 or more after officers responded to a Walmart for reports of theft.

According to the probable cause statement, Elizabeth Pigford was observed by Walmart asset protection getting items and concealing them inside a bag.

Walmart employees said they saw Pigford push a shopping cart full of items through a closed register lane making no attempt to pay for the items in the shopping cart, police said.

Officers said asset protection employees tried to stop Pigford, but she refused to comply and left the area on foot.

Police said they located Pigford hiding in some bushes in the parking lot of the business.

According to the probable cause statement, Pigford stole 158 items totaling $1,082.

Officers said Pigford denied stealing anything.

As of Thursday, Pigford has bonded out of the Cole County Jail.
