A chilly start to the day

TODAY: Clouds will persist staying cloudy with afternoon high temperatures only reaching the lower 60s. Winds will be out of the northwest at 6-10 mph, shifting to the northeast and becoming calm by evening.

TONIGHT: Winds will begin to shift to the south under mostly cloudy skies. By morning, temperatures will drop to the lower 50s as clouds begin to break up. Light winds, moisture, and clearing skies will allow fog to form early Thursday morning.

EXTENDED: Thursday will see increasing sunshine as high temperatures break back into the low to mid 70s. Summer-like weather returns Friday and Saturday as we climb into the mid 80s. As a cold front moves into northern Missouri Saturday, it will increase shower and thunderstorms chances for areas north of I-70 during the day. We will have to watch for the possibility of strong to severe storms late in the day Saturday in our northwestern counties near HWY 24. As this front moves south Saturday night, a line of showers and storms will push south through Sunday morning, moving out during early afternoon. Along with the rain chance Sunday, cooler air will move in keeping our high temperatures in the lower 70s on Sunday. The work week will start mild and dry with high temperatures near 70.
