Widespread showers and thunderstorms by tomorrow

After a warm and dry start to the week, Monday night will see an increasing chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms. This afternoon a passing cold front will allow for increasing cloud cover into the area, but we will remain dry with the frontal passage until a low pressure system ejects into the area through the overnight hours.

Past midnight looks like the greatest chance to see widespread showers and thunderstorms move into mid-Mo. We still could see a few isolated storms as early as this evening. For tonight, the bulk of the heavy rainfall will be south of I-70. As we head into Tuesday afternoon, the low will track eastward, and the heavier rainfall will move north of I-70.

With limited instability and a fair amount of vertical ascent, our southeastern counties are under a marginal threat for severe weather. The primary concern with this will be damaging wind gusts as we head into Tuesday afternoon.

Tuesday evening, the system will push off to the east leading to a cool and dry Wednesday.
