Columbia police investigate gunfire on Claudell Lane

Columbia police said they are investigating after a residence was hit by gunfire near Columbia Square Apartments early Saturday.

Police said it happened around 1:12 a.m. in the 1000 block of Claudell Lane.

Upon arrival, officers found the residence damaged, multiple shell casings and other evidence in the area.

Police said it appeared no one was inside the residence at the time.

Police also said there were no reported injuries.

Witnesses told police three black men were seen leaving the area on foot after the gunshots.
