Versailles man arrested, accused of causing a disturbance at Walmart, attempting to escape from jail

Versailles police arrested Dakota McComb after he was accused of causing a disturbance at a local Walmart on Tuesday.

According to the probable cause statement, officers were dispatched to Walmart for reports of a belligerent person refusing to leave the store.

Police said the Walmart’s manager called them and said there was a man walking around who appeared to be under some kind of influence.

The manager told officers the man was asked multiple times to leave, but he would not, and that he became verbally belligerent towards the employees.

Officers said when they made contact with McComb, he would not give them much information about his identity.

Police said when they were talking with McComb, he was sweating profusely and consistently biting his lower lip.

When they tried to put wrist restraints on McComb, officers said he began to pull away and resist arrest.

While trying to get control over McComb, one officer sustained minor injuries, police said.

Police said McComb kept resisting, so a Taser was used, at which point McComb fell to the floor and became compliant, officers said.

According to the probable cause statement, when McComb went to the Morgan County Jail, he tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana.

Deputies said McComb was refusing officers’ orders when he took off running.

Deputies said McComb ran into a captain’s office, where he proceeded to lock the door and shove a desk up against the door.

Deputies said they were able to make entry to the office through another door and got McComb into hand restraints.

Deputies said McComb still was resisting officers and that he had to be placed against the wall so deputies could control him.

Deputies said McComb was placed into a restraint chair for an hour and then placed in a detox cell.

McComb has been charged with resisting arrest, trespassing, assault and attempting to escape confinement.
