Tracking a warmup this weekend, and a chance for storms next week
TONIGHT
Tonight's showers and flurries will wind down for most around 7 p.m. with clouds clearing not far behind.
TOMORROW
Friday's breezy conditions will die down overnight as high pressure squeezes in. Add clear skies for early Saturday morning, and we have a recipe for a cold start. Temperatures will bottom out in the low 30's and upper 20's, leading to a widespread frost, if not a hard freeze for some. We’ll thaw out on Saturday with sunshine making a return. Highs tomorrow will reach the 50’s.
EXTENDED
The warmup is full steam ahead, and carries us to low 70's Sunday. We’ll hang on to the 70’s for the first half of next week, but it will come at a cost. Sunday night, it's beginning to look like thunderstorm chances return to mid-Missouri. The severe threat currently looks minimal, but a few strong to severe storms may develop. Right now, timing and placement are still a bit of a question mark so stay tuned. You'll want to be weather aware for the first half of next week as ingredients for strong thunderstorms are showing up for Sunday through Wednesday. Currently, details are too fuzzy to lock down any timing, placement, or certain threats, but given the supportive environment showing up in data, it's something to keep in our back pocket for now.
