Scattered showers and cooler through Wednesday evening

TODAY: Temperatures this afternoon are on the cooler side, with highs struggling to climb out of the lower 70s. Overcast skies have been with us for most of the day, with scattered showers tracking through Mid-Missouri. With the humid atmosphere and scattered showers, fog is beginning to develop across the region, with visibility below 5 miles. These conditions will stick with us through the remainder of today, with winds out of the south up to 10 mph.

TONIGHT: It will be another mild and muggy night across Mid-Missouri for October standards. Temperatures will bottom out in the mid 60s under overcast skies, with lingering showers through the night. Most of the activity will be to the southwest, as a warm front will begin to lift north. This will bring increasing rain chances overnight into Thursday morning. Winds through the evening will be out of the NE up to 7 mph. It’s likely that fog will develop across Mid-Missouri in areas where rain isn’t falling, which will lead to low visibility through the morning hours Thursday.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will stay in the mid 70s Thursday but will warm to near 80 Friday as warmer air moves in behind the warm front. Another line of showers and t-storms will move in Friday evening and overnight as a cold front moves through. A majority of the activity will remain in our northwestern counties. Severe weather looks unlikely, but heavy rain with amounts up to 3 inches are possible by early Saturday morning north of I-70 with 1-2″ farther south. As the front continues to push south, expect for lingering showers Saturday morning near I-44. Saturday looks dry with increasing sunshine. Temperatures will stay in the mid-upper 70s this weekend with nights dipping into the lower 50s. Another chances of showers and storms arrives Monday, followed by some of the coolest air of the fall season.
