Holts Summit man sentenced to multiple years in prison, accused of firing a shotgun at car in park

Shawn Cox, 43, plead guilty to assault Monday at the Callaway County Courthouse.

Cox admitted that in July 2016, he fired a shotgun at two people inside a car; the two had been involved in a fight with Cox’s son.

Cox took a shotgun from his home and made his way to the park as the fight was ending.

Cox fired at a vehicle, striking it multiple times along the passenger side door.

Police said none of the occupants were injured but there was damage to the vehicle.

Cox was sentenced to eight years in prison on each of the charges to be served concurrently.
