Summer heat sets its sights on Mid-Missouri

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies can be expected with temperatures falling into the mid 60s. We’ll be warmer tonight thanks to breezy winds out of the southeast up to 15 mph. This will also aid in pulling in more moisture and increasing the humidity values across Mid-Missouri.

MONDAY: The summer heat will build back into Mid-Missouri as we head through the day on Monday. Thanks to a ridge building into the eastern half of the country, temperatures tomorrow will warm into the mid and upper 80s. It will also be a gusty day, as winds will be out of the southeast up to 20 mph and gusting up to 25. With the breezy southeast winds, humidity values will jump up, as heat indices will approach 90 degrees. Morning clouds are expected and then gradually becoming mostly sunny through the day.

EXTENDED: Tuesday will be a repeat of Monday, with the exception of more cloud coverage. Tuesday night into Wednesday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms return, as a cold front pulls through the region. As the cold front pulls through the region it not only will bring beneficial rain to Mid-Missouri, but we’ll see several upper level disturbances follow it. This will keep rain in the extended forecast through the rest of the week into the weekend. Thanks to the rain and frontal boundary, we’ll see temperatures drop from the mid-80s into the low to mid 70s as we carry on through the week. Rain amounts will exceed two inches in many spots, bringing beneficial rain to the region. Watch ABC17 News for the latest forecast and follow ABC17 Stormtrack on Twitter for updates.
