Columbia woman arrested on suspicion of hitting man with a bat, telling police he was attacker
Columbia police arrested Kisha Benson after they were dispatched to a domestic disturbance with a bat in the 3100 block of Mexico Gravel Road.
Police said when they arrived on scene Benson and the male victim both had injuries to the head and had to be transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation but were released.
Police said Benson and male victim were in an intimate relationship.
A female victim reported that the male victim was upset with Benson and he threw a vase at her head and then hit her in the mouth, police said.
Officers said the male victim left the room and Benson decided that she should leave, grabbed a bat and left the residence.
Police said Benson told them the male victim was the attacker, saying the male victim pulled a handgun on her, hit her in the back and pulled her hair.
Officers said the male victim reported he was outside of the residence and was trying to leave when Benson took his keys while he was trying to jump start his vehicle.
The male victim said Benson attacked him with a bat, striking him in the leg, back and head.
The man also stated he did fight back and struck Benson with a brick on the side of the head to defend himself.
A witness told police that she saw a man loading items in his car, and Benson was yelling at the man, struck him on the back with a bat and the man falling to the ground.
Police said the witness saw the two on the ground wrestling for the bat and hitting each other.
Police said the witness also told them Benson eventually got up from the ground and run down the street with the bat.
Benson was arrested and facing possible charges of domestic assault and false reports.
