UPDATE: Section of Highview and Jewel reopened

UPDATE 2:53 pm: Police responded to the 5th and Walnut parking garage for reports on the person inside the garage.

Police confirmed they found the person they were looking for on Highview, but will not release any more information.

UPDATE 2:00 pm: Highview and Jewel Avenue are reopened.

Police said when they responded to the scene they smelled a strong odor.

Police went inside a house in the 300 block of Highview and turned off the gas.

Police told ABC17 crews they were searching for a person inside the residence and could not locate them.

ORIGINAL STORY: Multiple units are on scene in the 300 block of Highview Avenue and a section of the road is closed.

ABC 17 has crews on scene, who see MU health, the Columbia Fire Department and Columbia police.

ABC 17 crews also see multiple residents outside and police approaching a residence with riot shields.

ABC 17 is working to gather more information about the incident.
