This Week: The state of political discourse

Two Missouri lawmakers have recently drawn controversy after their provocative social media postings.

Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, posted her hopes that someone would assassinate President Donald Trump. She later apologized for her post and was censured by her colleagues in the Senate.

Rep. Warren Love, R-Osceola, called for the execution of the vandals of a Confederate memorial, saying the vandals should be hanged “from a tall tree by a long rope.” He has apologized for his post, as well.

On “This Week,” Columbia College political science professor Dr. Terry Smith examines the current state of political discourse.
