Man arrested after threatening victim with guns
On Tuesday, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department received a phone call from a woman stating her son, Robert Delp, had just purchased land on Indian Creek Hills and someone had recently threatened him to get off the property.
According to the probable cause statement, dispatch claimed a gun was involved.
Minutes before,Thomas Schroeder called the Sheriff’s Department stating that people were driving near his residence and believed there was drug activity going on.
Officers drove to the scene to talk with both of the men.
Derp stated he was driving his vehicle when an unknown man stopped them at an intersection. Derp said he noticed a green laser and bright light pointing at him. He noticed the unknown male was holding a gun in one hand and a pistol in the other.
The unknown male was later identified as Schroeder.
Derp said he tried telling Schroeder that he had just purchased land but Schroeder did not believe him.
Derp also claimed that Schroeder was threatening to shoot him if he moved.
Officers then talked with Schroeder, who stated Derp’s vehicle had no headlights on and it looked like he was up to no good.
Schroeder said he grabbed the guns for protection. He also admitted to showing Derp his weapons.
Schroeder was arrested and is charged for unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action, the guns were taken into custody as evidence.
