Some Irma evacuees seek refuge in Mid-Missouri

Some evacuees in the path of Hurricane Irma are inquiring and booking rooms here in Mid-Missouri.

Hotel operators along I-70 tell ABC 17 News they’ve had phone calls and bookings from people fleeing the incoming storm.

Mobile home residents as far as north central Florida have been given a mandatory evacuation order and are told to be gone by Saturday.

ABC 17 News producer Zack Farwell is in Silver Springs, Florida, which is about 80 miles northwest of Orlando. He says gas stations are out of fuel and some stores are out of the basic necessities due to the storm.

Farwell noticed store shelves are stripped bare of essentials such as bread, milk, bottled water, canned meats, etc.
