Mizzou’s offense sets records, leads the Tigers over Missouri State
The Mizzou offense exploded on Saturday, leading the Tigers to a 72-43 win over Missouri State. MU quarterback Drew Lock went 21-34 for 521 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception. The junior set school records in passing yards and touchdowns. Lock’s passer rating was 252.5.
Mizzou opened the game with a 65-yard touchdown on the first play of the game – Lock connected with wide receiver Johnathon Johnson. The Tigers had more than 500 yards of offense in the first half alone. MU finished with a school record 815 yards of offense.
Running back Damarea Crockett had a huge game for the Tigers. He finished with 202 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Crockett is the first MU running back to have back-to-back games with more than 200 yards on the ground.
Wide receiver J’Mon Moore had four catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Johnathon Johnson had five catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns
Defensively, the Tigers struggled in the first half. MU gave up 35 points. However, Missouri picked up the intensity in the 2nd half. The Tigers shutout the Bears in the third quarter. They allowed just eight points in the second half.
Missouri will host South Carolina for its SEC opener next Saturday at 6 p.m.
