Man dies from gunshot wounds after shooting at Sunset Village Trailer Park in Pettis County

A man has died of his gunshot wounds after a shooting at Sunset Village Trailer Park in Pettis County on Thursday afternoon.

The Pettis County sheriff confirmed that deputies were called to reports of a shooting at Sunset Village Trailer Park around 12:50 p.m.

The victim was found outside a home with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The Sheriff’s Office told ABC 17 News the victim and the two suspects, were not from the Sedalia area, nor did they live in the trailer park.

The suspect vehicle was seen leaving the scene of the shooting with a black man driving and a white man in the passenger seat. The vehicle was described as a four-door car with a sunroof. A black 2012 Chevrolet Impala, believed to be connected to the crime, was reported as stolen and found in Lexington. Sheriff Kevin Bond told ABC 17 News they discovered it was stolen because the vehicle had OnStar installed.

The sheriff said residents in the area have been cooperative in giving information to authorities.

Bond told ABC 17 News his office believes an assault rifle and handgun were used in the deadly shooting. The two men they are looking for are considered armed and dangerous but believed to have left the Sedalia area.

An autopsy for the man killed is scheduled for Friday and efforts are underway to notify his next of kin.
