Rifle believed to be used in shooting death of Clinton police officer found
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A’s Twitter account, the rifle that was believed to be used in the shooting death of a Clinton police officer has been found.
The gun was allegedly found in Henry County, north of Clinton.
ABC 17 News previously reported that The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed Officer Gary Michael with the Clinton Police Department was killed during a traffic stop Sunday night near the Henry County Sheriff’s Dept.
A passerby called in a tip around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday that someone was walking on the side of Highway U in Henry County. When troopers checked out the tip, they found suspect Ian McCarthy with a gunshot wound.
