No one hurt in Cooper County house fire

Just before 2 a.m. Sunday the Cooper County Fire Protection District was called to Vassar Street in Bunceton for a house on fire.

Fire officials said the back half of the house was fully involved when firefighters arrived. Chief David Gehm said firefighters were on scene for about two hours.

No one was hurt during the fire. Gehm said the house had been vacant for about 3 months.

Gehn said the fire marshal has ruled the fire to be suspicious in nature, although the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
