Boone County to vote on renewing road, bridge tax

Boone County will vote Tuesday on Proposition One, which would renew a 1/2-cent sales tax. That money will go towards road and bridge maintenance in the county.

Eighty percent of the money used to improve and maintain Boone County roads comes from the sales tax. About 20 percent comes from sources like the property and motor vehicle tax.

The tax brings in $14 million annually and the Boone County Public Works Department releases annual reports on how it’s using the money. You can find a link to the 2016 Road and Bridge Annual Report here.
