Unseasonably cool and wet weekend ahead for Mid-Missouri

TODAY: This afternoon will be one of the best afternoons we’ve had in quite some time, as sunny skies and cool temperatures will make it feel like fall. We’ll see highs climb into the mid 70s across a good portion of the region, with winds out of the northwest under 13 mph.

TONIGHT: It will be calm and cool once again as overnight lows drop into the mid to upper 50s by the morning. Skies will remain clear through the evening, with winds slowly shifting out of the south under 5 mph.

EXTENDED: This unseasonably cool weather will continue through the weekend as day time highs reach into the mid and upper 70s. The day will start of sunny, but by the afternoon will quickly become overcast ahead of widespread rainfall. Most of what we’ll see will be heavy rain, but with any storms we do see, there is no severe threat. Highest rainfall totals will be west of HWY 63. Some areas could see 1-3″ rain. Chariton, Saline, and Pettis Counties are under a flash flood watch in effect from Saturday afternoon until Sunday at 7 AM. Rain decreases through the day Sunday with afternoon temperatures staying in the mid 70s. As we head into a new week, we’ll see drier conditions and highs staying in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
