Unseasonably cool weekend ahead

TODAY: Waking up it will be a chilly start as temperatures will be in the mid 50s. Through the entire day it will feel more like September as high temperatures will only top out in the mid to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies. We’ll have a northwesterly breeze near 10 mph.

TONIGHT: Friday night will be calm and cool once again as overnight lows drop into the mid to upper 50s by the morning. It will be a dry night as skies remain mostly clear with a westerly breeze up to 5 mph.

EXTENDED: This unseasonably cool weather will continue through the weekend as day time highs reach into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees on Saturday. This is about 8-12 degrees below average for the first week of August. The start of the weekend will be dry, but a chance of showers and thunderstorms returns as we head through the day Saturday, with rain increasing overnight. With these storms there is no severe threat, but heavy rain is possible Saturday night through early Sunday morning. Highest rainfall totals will be of HWY 63. Some areas could see 1-3″ rain. Chariton, Saline, and Pettis Counties are under a flash flood watch in effect from Saturday afternoon until Sunday at 7 AM.
