Tracking our next system that will bring rainy and cool conditions by the week’s end

TODAY: With clear skies, and relatively calm winds, temperatures have cooled quickly overnight. We'll start in the mid-40's and jump well into the mid-70's this afternoon. Expect plenty of sunshine, and a healthy southwest breeze.

TONIGHT: Skies will stay clear overnight tonight, but a continued south breeze will help to keep temperatures in the high 40's, if not low 50's by early Thursday morning.

EXTENDED: Highs on Thursday get back into the low to mid-70's. One big limiting factor on Thursday will be how soon clouds roll in. Clouds start to fill in Thursday afternoon ahead of a front that will bring a good dose of rain and cooler temperatures Thursday night into Friday. There could be a few rumbles of thunder Thursday night into Friday morning, but severe weather isn't expected locally. Some data suggests that rainfall could start in mid-Missouri as soon as 7pm, but the overwhelming majority of guidance suggests a later start time, closer to 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. Once rain starts, off and on rainfall potential will carry on through the early hours Saturday morning, where the potential exists to see a few snowflakes mix in. This is the limit of any wintry impact, as we don't expect any accumulation. We'll see temperatures falling from the low 50s in the morning through the 40s in the afternoon on Friday. It will be a chilly start Saturday with lows in the 30s, but we rebound as winds shift during the day back to the south. Still, highs will struggle to reach 60 Saturday afternoon. Things improve by Sunday, where we top out near 70. Next week starts off active with another low pressure system moving across the area and bringing rain and/or a few thunderstorms Monday night into Tuesday.
