Jefferson City, First Student hiring bus drivers

First Student, the contractor that supplies school buses for Jefferson City Public Schools, held a recruiting event today at Capital Mall in Jefferson City.

Applicants can expect to undergo a background check, a drug screening and a physical before starting the 50-hour training program to become a school bus driver.

Drivers at least 21 years old and have at least three years of driving experience.

First Student is always hiring and there is an appeals process for those who do not initially pass one of the background checks.

First Student will also be holding a recruiting session at the Jefferson City Blood Drive from 8:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m Monday, Aug. 14. It will be held at the employee lounge at 321 Norman Drive in Jefferson City.
