Kingdom City woman arrested for forgery, resisting arrest

During the early hours of Thursday morning, a Columbia police officer saw a white Ford truck with Missouri Registration traveling eastbound on Nifong, and improperly used its turn signals while traveling.

The vehicle registration had an attached extraditable warrant for the registered owner. The officer stopped the vehicle in the area of Nifong and Santiago.

The driver of the vehicle, Amy Sparks, provided a false name and date of birth to the officer. Sparks was identified as the registered owner of the vehicle. Sparks also had three outstanding warrants for her arrest.

As the officer went to handcuff Sparks, she pulled away and tied to reach out to the officer with a knife in her hand. The officer got the knife away from her, and she continued to struggle.

Sparks was arrested for felony resisting or interfering with an arrest, second degree assault, felony warrant for failure to appear for forgery with a bond of $5,000, felony warrant for failure to appear for an assault of a law enforcement officer with a bond of $5,000 and felony warrant for failure to appear for driving while revoked with a bond of $5,000.
