Advanced Disposal responds to missed trash pickup claims

A trash collection company is apologizing to mid-Missouri customers for missed trash pickups.

Advanced Disposal took over AAA Waste Management on July 14.

Since that time, some concerned customers in both Columbia and Fulton have told ABC 17 News that their trash had not been picked up.

On Wednesday, the company said it lost drivers during the transition.

“Typically with acquisitions we are successful in retaining the drivers that are familiar with the waste collection routes,” said Mark A. Nighbor, vice president of marketing and communications. “Unfortunately with AAA we tried to hire the drivers but only two of the seven joined the Advanced Disposal team.”

Nighbor said the company has employees from other Advanced Disposal locations helping out during the transition and that three more drivers have been hired.

The company expects the service to improve over the next few weeks.
