City of Columbia partnering with Room at the Inn at Northeast Regional Park

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia is working with Room at the Inn (RATI) to provide shelter at the City of Columbia Northeast Regional Park, the former Boone County Fairgrounds. RATI will utilize the coliseum at the park to provide an emergency winter shelter for those experiencing homelessness through April 2.

The Room at the Inn will move to Northeast Regional Park beginning Saturday.

"As we see a continued demand for shelter during winter weather for our unsheltered community, both the City and Room at the Inn recognize the importance of continuing to provide a safe space for individuals to use," City Manager De'Carlon Seewood said in a release. "The Northeast Regional Park will provide a large space for RATI to utilize for the remainder of this winter season that will provide protection for our most vulnerable population. It is important to the City that individuals experiencing homelessness have access to resources and shelter during this especially difficult time of year."
