Man accused of stealing from Jefferson City store

A man has been charged after allegedly stealing from a Jefferson City store and trying to run from police.

Shawnelle Yarbrough was arrested Thursday around 10:30 a.m. Police say he stole items from a store, went outside to his car to change clothes and went back inside to retrieve more items that had been taken from him. When police got to the scene, Yarbrough tried to run but was eventually taken into custody.

A woman with Yarbrough told police he had meth in the car. When asked about the meth, he denied knowing it was there.

Yarbrough is charged with stealing, resisting arrest and trespassing.
